Lanna Mae Brown

Looking at these photographs makes me grin from ear to ear. They remind me that I am doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing with my life because I am filled with a sense of contentment and joy. A while back one of my clients introduced me to up and coming children’s clothing designer Lanna Mae Brown. Not only is she amazingly talented, but she is so sweet and down to earth that you feel as though you could sit on the porch and sip lemonade with her all day long and talk about your favorite things. Right away I started recommending her clothing to my clients for their sessions…I am in love with the bright colors and eclectic, unique vision she brings to each article of clothing. Not to mention the beautiful attention to detail. I jumped at the chance when the opportunity arose to collaborate with her to photograph her new season!

The deeper I get into this photography career of mine, the more I realize what a huge impact fashion has on my excitement, inspiration and personal creative vision. (I must have read one too many Seventeen Magazines while growing up!) I was just so stupidly happy when I was shooting that I’m surprised I was able to function on any kind of coherent level, whatsoever.

A phenomenal excuse to blog

I was tagged by photographer friend Shannon Sewell on her blog and now I must relay to my readers this random information about myself. Feel free to sit back, relax and judge me.

Four things I did today…

1. Watched an episode of Growing Pains.

2. Took an Excedrin and drank two cups of coffee all at the same time because I woke up with a painful migraine. My shaking, jittery body regrets this decision. But at least my headache is gone!

3. Called david and compelled him to feel bad for me because I had a headache.

4. Repeatedy pulled my cat out of the ThanksChristWeen tree in our living room.*

*David’s entire family (12 people in all!) are flying in to stay with us for a long weekend. We are really excited to have them and since we will be celebrating 3 major holidays with them, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, we have erected a ThanksChristWeen tree in their honor. It is a lovely artificial Christmas tree that is covered in orange lights, cobwebs, skeletons and jackolanters, and has a wonderful array of Christmas gifts nestled below. My 13 lb cat attempts to climb the small tree and lay in the branches. The tree shakes violently and almost topples. He also likes to try to bite through the cord to the lights. Big surprise.

Four things on my to do list…

1. Buy groceries. Anyone who knows me knows I hate grocery stores. They are cold, flourescent and a complete time warp.

2. Call and make a dentist appointment. When I was little the dentist yelled at me and made me cry. He frightened all the children in our town, FYI. I’m not telling you that to imply that I am afraid of going to the dentist now, I just felt like exposing him for his crime.

3. Join Facebook.

4. Actually do the things on my to do list

Four of my guiltiest pleasures…

1. Eating McDonalds french fries. The fact that they probably kill you certainly makes them a guilty pleasure.

2. Buying books. Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, the airport. Yes, the airport is probably the guiltiest delicious feeling when purchasing a book.

3. Sleeping in. There are few things I like to do more in life than sleep. Words cannot describe how much I love to sleep or how psychotic I get when I am deprived of it.

4. Looking at all the animals for adoption at the pet store when I go to get Pegasus his food, treats and litter. I stand longingly at their cages and gaze at their lonely furry faces and imagine that I can take them all home with me and love them. I guess it’s not really a guilty pleasure, it’s more like a guilty torture. I know I shouldn’t even stop to look because it will upset me, but I do it anyway because I can’t help it.

Four random facts about me…

1. I bite my nails. Always have. Ask my mother.

2. I play the piano. 15 years of lessons, baby!

3. Somehow I believe I won’t ever get old or die. I’m not sure how to correct this ideology but at least I can recognize it’s not very logical.

4. I invent words all the time and when used in proper context the listener usually knows exactly what I mean although they hate to admit it. ahem. david.

Since I’m usually asked where I get my graphics from, I will just go ahead and tell you that these borders are ones I created. They are available at www.swissmissdesignhaus.com and are from the Old Camera borders set and the Polaroid Transfer Set.
