Stork Assistant

Hey guys, I’m off to catch a plane to Georgia. My sis is having a baby! I’m literally running out the door before I go and couldn’t bare to leave my blog naked for the next 4 days, so here is a quick picture of a little cutie. I will return all my calls and emails when I return in a couple of days. Thanks!

Happy Easter, Folks.

And if that wasn’t amusing enough- check out my new dream pet. (more giant bunnies here)

This next bunny should wipe that silly smile off his face. Apparently he’s the only one who thinks a blizzard for Easter is festive. (photo taken on my iPhone in Detroit)

My favorite place on planet earth is the bathtub

2531.jpg

Seriously, seriously could not live without it. Feeling upset? Take a hot bath. Feeling achey? Take a hot bath. Bored? Take a hot bath. I might as well turn into Margot Tenenbaum and strap my tv to the radiator, sit in the tub for hours smoking cigarettes and never come out. My husband could just slide food under the door.

I recently finished up a week of teaching on a private forum for professional photographers. It was so much fun! My fingers were aching from typing though and I wished that I could just blab it all out in person. It’s quite an ordeal trying to organize your thoughts in an effective way and get them out through writing. I will say that it was a really great experience as the questions that people asked me really forced me to sit down and think through the process of why I do things the way I do and disect the method of my madness.

I have quite a few favorites from this shoot- tried to narrow it down but quit trying half way through and just posted a bunch.

Photographing Josh Shipp

promo_card_front.jpg

Yay! I had the pleasure of hanging out with Josh Shipp this month when he was in town for film production. Josh is a speaker who is known around the world for his amazing ability to inspire and motivate teens through his personal message. He has appeared on MTV, Comedy Central, NBC, FOX, TLC, and in the LA TIMES. He also writes an advice column for CosmoGirl magazine. He is just awesome on all accounts. I had the privilage of photographing him for his website and new promo peices. I love the photo he chose for his new one above!

So let me just say that this guy is crazy - we did his photos out on the streets of GR and when I asked him for his own ideas to incorporate into the shoot, the things he suggested were lifting his leg to a fire hydrant and standing in the street directing traffic. Both of which I captured on film much to my delight. I love working with such fresh and real personality. And how cool is it to see my work on his website now???? Yay times two. Check out some of the highlights…

Please make sense in the morning.

It’s scary writing a blog post at 3:34am. You wonder if you are coherent enough to make sense, let alone entertain anyone. I’m terrified I will wake up in the morning and review my post and be mortified and what I’ve written! Like those people who drink and dial. Or drink and dish. (you know, get drunk and tell all your worst secrets to new acquaintances). One thing I’ve had to learn about myself is how everything seems so much worse at night than it actually is. You know what I mean? I remember when I was little my dad would always tell us that if we would just sleep on it that things wouldn’t seem so bad in the morning. I remember when he would say that it was so hard to believe him, but in the morning he was always right! One time david and I made a rule that we couldn’t have any serious discussions after 10pm. Night owl or not, I’m convinced that it is hard to be completely rational when you are tired or when its late. The morning always lends a fresh perspective and things never seem so detrimental as they did the night before. It’s funny how those things your dad taught you in life stay with you and play through your mind as an adult. It’s like I have a tape recording in my head when I’m going about my business: “walk with the kitchen knife pointing downward not outward. Always cut away from yourself not towards yourself. don’t chew that pen cap you’ll ruin your teeth. back out of a parking spot slowly. a yellow sky and a “train” noise are warning signs of an approaching tornado.”

You can tell that we were raised to be cautious! And no, I have never seen a tornado. If you want to have my complete attention and/or have my eyes glued upon you in terror, just tell me about the time you personally witnessed a cyclone. The only cyclones I have seen are the tornados that torment me in my dreams at night.  Does anyone else have the killer tornado dreams??  They scare the living daylights out of me!!
