That was my friends recommendation to me for a sore throat. I’m always up for a challenge, so I put the apple cider vinegar in my throat and gargled away. I’m a tough cookie mind you, but that about made me lose my dinner. I’m supposed to start feeling the effects tomorrow, so I’ll let you know how it all goes. The next 10 days are jam packed with sessions so I’m gearing up for that, and david and I are also moving this month. Lots of exciting things happening. I hope everyone had a very spooky Halloween. We were supposed to go trick or treating with my nephews but I was too sick to go. =( I thought these orchard photos were fitting for the season.

Hope you get to feeling better! The gargling does work, although it is utterly disgusting.

SORE THROAT - YUK! TOTALLY drains you. And packed with sessions…sheesh. Well, I hope your remedy works….and don’t move too quick. Second 1/2 of 80’s revisited is on it’s way….

In bed in the dark last night, david and I laid there in heated debate. It went something like this:
david: He-man was always He-man. He wasn’t like a superhero who changed into He-man when the need arose. He always walked around as He-man.
me: Honey. HUN-EEE. Are you serious right now? Come on- don’t you remember how he would hold up his sword in front of the big scary castle and change into He-man??? And the lighting would flash. He was totally a normal guy who had dual identities. Like Clark Kent.
david: Your wrong. It was fantasy. Thats like saying Gandalf the wizard was a super hero and changed into Gandalf. He-man was always He-man.
me: No! Don’t you remember how he even had that scared cat that would change into a ferocious tiger??? He-man even had a normal name for when he was wearing normal clothes. (racking my brain to try to remember what it was…)
david: Yeah right. And what was Skeletor, an accountant?
me: (laughing, but getting more adamant)- Babe, it was the whole point of the show, how he changed into He-man.
david: You are so wrong. And I am going to openly mock you when we look this up tomorrow and I prove you wrong.
me: Well, I am not going to mock you. Because I know the truth.
david: (a scoffing snort)
I laid there for T minus 5 seconds before I flew out of bed across the hall to the office to look it up on the computer. David yells, "Check Wikipedia!"
Let’s just say the story ended sadly for David and gloriously for me. I did not openly mock him, however I did force him to say, "You were right."
The best part of it all was getting on YouTube and finding the intro to the show, which I hadn’t seen since I was 6 years old. The show aired from 1983-1985 which means I was about 4 when I started watching. It was my FAVORITE show. Thats the crazy thing about your memory during those developmental years- the way things just burn into your brain and you never forget them. When this video started playing I about had a heart attack- it took me back in time more than any other experience in my adult life. It was almost- well, spiritual. It was like being 5 years old again. I remembered every word of it and every image, but I didn’t know that I remembered it! It was just locked away in my brain somewhere.
Oh, I had such a crush on He-man which further adds to my theory that I’ve always had a thing for blondes. For those of you who haven’t seen this in 25 years, be prepared. It’s even more awesome than you remember!

h.i.l.a.r.i.o.u.s!!!! i’m laughing still now! i love when husbands are wrong. but you’re SO nice about it…if i were you, i would’ve jumped on the bed and done an end-zone football dance to prove how right i was. yeah. i guess i’m not that nice of a wife!
Hold on… You are stating on your blog… the same blog with THOUSANDS of readers that you are not openly mocking me??!! It doesn’t get much more OPEN than this!!!! Jasmine, I would have much preferred the end-zone football dance to this! To clarify, He-Man IS FANTASY, and while he does “transform” from a real guy, this isn’t exactly Clark Kent or Peter Parker (both dorks) we’re talking about. He’s a 250lb, muscular prince with a haircut taken directly from C.H.I.P.S. He was already awesome!!! Needless to say, take one look at Skeletor and tell me this isn’t Fantasy Land…

I LOVE IT!!! This also reminded me to look up the intro to She-Ra Soooo many memories!

I have to say I totally sided with David when he told me about this. The problem is boys don’t care about back stories or princes, especially princes named Adam. It’s enough to have muscles and a big sword. A big sword that makes you half naked. What a dirty, dirty show.
Ok, ok…..I get that guys don’t care much for WHY things are. They basically just accept that they ARE. BUT. Isn’t the whole STORY of He-Man the fact that he changes from mere mortal to said “half naked man with a sword?” Anyway, David, I have to say I dont see the CHiPs Hair analogy. As a die-hard Ponch-n-Jon fan…I just don’t see it. I’m going more with Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber…

OMG, OMG, OMG……serious flashback to my childhood!!!!! OK off to find She-ra!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
I am so happy to know I am not the only women who still thinks about He-Man as her first love. Ok ladies you know I’m right. What amazes me is the difference between the cartoons we watched growing up and the ones I let my son (3 yrs) watch. Not thinkin’ I will be letting him watch He-Man, he is into Clifford and Super Why.
Thanks for the flashback!!
Mitzi
That’s just pure awesomeness. Both He-Man and She-Ra were must watch shows for me as a kid. Thanks for the flashback! And, I love that David was wrong, sorry David, we girls have to stick to together
Thanks for this post Aim! It was so fun to go back in time!

Oh my gosh, Amy! I have been such a fan of your work, and I totally stalk your blog. However, now, I think I love you! - in a totally platonic way of course. Thanks for this little trip down memory lane. You are hilarious, and apparently sweet, as I would have been doing the “haha, you were so wrong” pointing-my-finger- thing to my husband if it were me.
Amy - I swear the things you remember. Nice job on debate victory.
David - I see no mockery here, just the solid facts of the story. It is not your fault though, you were only 3 when the show went off-air. Since Amy is being gracious and not openly mocking you herself, it is fair game that everyone else mocks you for her. Maybe you could win a “My Little Pony” debate next week and try to redeem yourself.

As David’s mother who bribed him by buying him the Castle Grayskull castle if he would quit sucking his fingers, I just had to comment that I too, after all these, years, can still quote the opening lines of the show. I also have embedded in my brain every line of our edited version of Top Gun that David watched a million times. And I can sing the theme song of Postman Pat, which was a popular chidrens show in England when David was 4. I hear it’s coming back. Isn’t the Internet wonderful? We can prove them wrong on the spot!

When I was 4 years old my mother proposed an art project for me and my 2 year old brother. We were instructed to go outside on the chilly fall day and collect the prettiest colored leaves we could find. Then the three of us made glue by mixing flour and water together for a paste and we glued the red and orange leaves to construction paper. I’ve always remembered how cool I thought that was. (especially the fact that it was that easy to make glue!) And I’m still fascinated by the fall leaves. The sound of them rustling, the way they scatter and blow through the air as though they have a life of their own. And who can resist the smell of the leaves burning. Sounds sadistic after talking about them having a life of their own, but it really smells so good! When david and I take walks around the neighborhood together I can’t help stopping to pick up every cool leaf I see or the tops of the acorns that the squirrels have popped off. By the time we get home I unconsciously have my hands full of colored leaves and whatever else I collected along the way.
In the Fall I always incorporate the leaves whenever I can. It’s such a fleeting time of beauty- like the sun’s last kiss before it goes to bed for the winter. Was that cheezy? Okay, yeah, it was a little bit cheezy.

How ironic…just today I was walking around campus and kept seeing gorgeous leaves. I had to literately fight the urge to pick them up and keep them! Needless to say, I love that you incorporated the leaves in this session. Pure Fall beauty!

your blog is like CRACK! if i were a crackhead that is which i am totally not.

Yep - I guess that what makes me a midwestern gal….I could NEVER leave my autumns here. We do “leaf projects” here ALL THE TIME! Who can resist? WHEN….WHEN do you EVER see such a palette of color? So..cheese? Eh, probably, but it’s beauty that REQUIRES a reply. I LOVE the feel of this session.

It is that time of the year, I had the whole family, when the autumn leaves take over…
I had the whole family jump up and down, role around and throu leaves in the afternoon sunshine in front of the camera this weekend.
I’m tempted to nick your mums autumn art project for my kids!!
As always cracking pictures and entertaining reading. Thanks for putting a smile on my face.
Can’t quite explain it, but I love love love the last one.

I LOVE your work!! Just simply amazing. I too love to use Fall in Michigan with my photographs!
Thats right, folks. We are entertaining the idea of getting Pegasus a pet. I held some pretty adorable kittens today at the pound that meowed hideously at me when I put them back in their cage. Gosh, it about breaks your heart. We are going to think on it over the weekend. David is off to a Morissey concert tonight and I am going to see a movie with my brother. I’m not big on concerts. Maybe its the crowds, the beer, the fear of getting trampled.
These are more pictures from August. When you could still fry an egg on the sidewalk.

Amy- I thought you were great when you did our shots last year- these are just unreal. Keep it coming! You are really hitting it out of the park with the eyes in particular. Also, I linked you on my blog- you don’t mind the publicity do you?
I’m running out the door to a shoot this evening, but wanted to throw some pictures online before I go. These are from August actually. Ah well, who’s keeping track.
