So much news to report! Would you like the bad news first or the good news? Lets start with the bad news. The past week was a rough one for me. The first thing that happened was I came down with a terrible cold during a very busy spell with work. So that was not fun. While I was sick I managed to crash my car. I was fine, but the driver side door is not fine. Then while attempting to drive myself to Detroit in my lovely mangled car for photo shoots over the weekend, lets just say I took a few wrong turns and ended up adding 2 HOURS onto my trip. How this happened on a route I’ve driven like a gazillion times I have no idea. I seriously think I am just way too busy and apparently need to SLOW DOWN! While in Detroit at a photo session I was walking down their beautiful landscaped steps into their backyard and somehow tripped, plunging forward and ending up in a very deep lunge position that was frighteningly similar to the splits. The back foot twisted funny and cut on the rocks and is somewhat sprained. So for those of you with photo shoots this coming week…please bear with the limp and mangled car. And be on the lookout- my track record is less than comforting.

Now for the good news- I am thrilled to announce that I have a studio!! It’s a beautiful loft space downtown and we are currently putting the work in and getting it ready for November appointments! As most of you know I have specialized in natural light on location photography for a few years now, so I am more than excited to add this additonal element to my business. There will be pictures and all kinds of info (maybe even some specials) posted on the blog about the studio. So stay tuned for details.

Now for the pictures I’ve been wanting to share- these are actually from a session last weekend. I try to give parents a combination of beautifully lit headshots along with creative shots of kids being kids. There were so many great ones to share from this session, but here are a few of my very favorites.

I ADORE this one of big sister pushing her on the swings.

I’m sure its seems strange to some parents when I photograph their child inside the open front door, but this is my favorite lighting technique. Look at her peepers!
